Bye Bye Blisters!

As you all know (oops! you don't know because I haven't been writing), I have been trying my very best to bring my running regimen to a whole new level.

No, I have no plans of joining a full marathon, not even half. It is just that our physical fitness test for promotion is coming. Failure in PFT means no promotion and could even be grounds for separation from service. Horror story.

I don't know the date yet but I feel that I really have to exert more effort.
With that, i have been having ugly blisters marks on my feet. I know it's not a sight to behold especially when I wear low cut sneakers, flats, and slippers.

check out my toned legs:)
It really is not that of a big deal but I just don't like how it looks like. So to solve that, I am back to using petroleum jelly at night again. The husband bought me a new jar.

It is actually for babies but I love how it smells. Of course it smells baby-ish because it's for babies. Duh?! I love babies and I love their smell...when their clean.haha I apply the jelly on my feet and wear socks and let my skin absorb the moisture over night. I feel so young! Why? Because I did the same thing when I was younger and had all the time to pamper myself. Makes me think how free I was back then. Sigh.

I need to have a foot spa soon
To top that, I put on a plaster of anti blister tape to areas which are usually prone to chafing to avoid getting new blisters. Again, it is the husband who bought the tape. Thanks, love!

Let's go PFT!

Shoe Shopping

My husband loves me but sometimes he shows it unconventional ways.

A normal husband would give girly stuffs such as jewelries, shoes, bags, wallets (hopefully with cash!) to his wife.

Gian, the husband does things differently. For the holidaze, he bought me a new pair of running shoes. I appreciate the thought that he wants me to stay fit and healthy and i've been dying to buy a new par too! But the idea that he wants me to keep on running makes me laugh.

Gusto mo talaga akong pagpawisan and hingalin parati?

Oh well, I know naman the husband wants the best for me so sige na nga.

We went to Toby's Sports at SM MOA last January 5 to buy ourselves new pairs of running shoes.

The husband and I have planning to buy new pairs of rubber shoes. We want to buy running shoes that are really designed to support our feet. They do not have to be good looking basta it will give our feet and knees the support they need.

Kung dati kasi, when we decide to buy a pair of shoes, we thought any model will do. For as long as it's soft it's okay. Yun pala, that's not how things should be. We should only buy training shoes which are really designed for our feet to prevent accident.

Now that we are more passionate (daw) with running, we are more conscious of what we wear. We want to improve and beat our Personal Record (PR). If we don't get the right shoes for us, it might lead to having knee injuries. O di ba, horror story ang peg.

After taking the tests to determine our foot type, we found out that I have neutral pronation. That means I need stability shoes. According to the running shoes guru, stability footwear combines cushioning and support features.

I was directed to the stability column then I saw these pretty babies.

ahlavem!

I got the blue cascadia. aren't they the cutest?

I was so happy with my new shoes that i forgot about the husband. No pictures pero this is what he got.

Gian needs motion control shoes which gives emphasis on medial support by having dual density mid soles  roll bars or foot bridges. Kung anu man effect nun, let's ask the husband na lang.hahaha

the not so great wall of running shoes at Toby's
That's it for our shoe shopping experience. Humayo tayo't tumakbo!

August Gone Cold

Rain, rain go away!

It's been raining for three weeks here in Mindoro. It's cold and the weather has really affected my daily routine.

I used to run outside camp during the late afternoon but that stopped due to the rain. We have this though:

I still prefer to run in the open.

My body clock is also disturbed. Because I am not too tired in the evening due to lack of physical exercise, I end up sleeping late playing computer games and tinkering on everything I could find. I'm having a hard time balancing sleep and video games. I'm blaming it all to the bad weather.

If I was not employed, I would just compensate sleeping late with waking up late. However, I do have a job and I have to be awake by 7am at the latest. Due to lack of sleep, I feel lethargic and less productive.  My puffy eyes do no good as they spill embarrassment.

Young adults may not feel susceptible to lack of sleep. The working class usually have to remedy their lack of sleep with food supplements and multivitamins. People shouldn't forget that  sleep is serious. Sleep is the time when our body and mind can recharge, and if we don't have enough sleep, we might find ourselves too drained to do anything.

Bad, bad weather. Bad bad me. Must. Try. Better. Next. Time.

How about you, how is rainy season treating you?

MBC Fun Run

After a week, I finally have the time to share my experience of the fun run we attended last sunday.

As I have mentioned previously, I didn't prepare much for the run itself. On the night before the run, the husband and I had a long bath. I thought shedding off the extra dirt and dead skin off our bodies would make us feel lighter and later make us run faster. I'm dead serious about that though I know it's not true. You know me, I have my own way of reasoning out.:).

The husband of course, is not convinced. As usual. But he loves me and we're allies so he just tagged  along.

After doing some stretching exercises, we slept like babies and woke up excited minutes before the alarm rang.

We were really excited about the run since it's our first time to join a super organized fun run. We had our breakfast on the go: peanut butter-chocolate sandwich and bananas. Not too heavy but enough to sustain us for the run.

Many participants were already in Star City when we arrived. Here are some pre-run shots:

"the ok guy"

I used to say that I don't find fun runs to be all that fun because I generally do not like running as an exercise, but things change. Indeed, fun run is fun!
