MBC Fun Run

After a week, I finally have the time to share my experience of the fun run we attended last sunday.

As I have mentioned previously, I didn't prepare much for the run itself. On the night before the run, the husband and I had a long bath. I thought shedding off the extra dirt and dead skin off our bodies would make us feel lighter and later make us run faster. I'm dead serious about that though I know it's not true. You know me, I have my own way of reasoning out.:).

The husband of course, is not convinced. As usual. But he loves me and we're allies so he just tagged  along.

After doing some stretching exercises, we slept like babies and woke up excited minutes before the alarm rang.

We were really excited about the run since it's our first time to join a super organized fun run. We had our breakfast on the go: peanut butter-chocolate sandwich and bananas. Not too heavy but enough to sustain us for the run.

Many participants were already in Star City when we arrived. Here are some pre-run shots:

yes, we're close friends.:)

I used to say that I don't find fun runs to be all that fun because I generally do not like running as an exercise, but things change. Indeed, fun run is fun!

Tatakbo ba Talaga Kami?

I have mentioned here that i have some things to look forward to for July. Krystel's wedding (no picture, sorry!) and second is the MBC run. Well, this is the point where I am torn kung tatakbo ba bukas or hindi. I am successfully done with the carbo loading phase (super easy!) but I am not yet sure  if I am prepared for my 10k run tomorrow. errrrr

According to the husband, we will run. Ok, fine we will run! I am half convinced.

Actually, running is not new to me. As much as time would permit, I would always run in the afternoon. But work has been so demanding lately and the farthest that I've run in the last couple of months is only 8k-ish so tomorrow still gives me the nerves! Prepare the ambulance, please!

Anyway, here is a picture of our kit. I will run 10k while the husband will run 15k.

While the husband has been preparing for the run since forever, the only preparation that I ever did was to clean my running shoes. K.
this pair has been with me since 2009

P.S.
Follow up story on the MBC Fun Run to follow.

Boodling Boys and Girl

This post is a follow up to my previous post. Last week was a blast when I tried my luck with golf (found out later that it's not for me). The rest of the story, you can read in sunday golf but the more enjoyable part of our trip is of course the boodling (eating) part! wohoooooooo!

We left the camp around eleven noon. No time for rally lunch so we opted to have lunch along the way. Q said we can eat at the clubhouse but B said that food there is sobrang expensive so our first stop is at a random lomihan. From clubhouse to lomihan. K!
Batangas Special Goto and Lomi
nomnomnom
Im trying to eat healthy lately so this bowl didn't appeal much to me. Tasty, yes but not healthy. It's thick but maybe because of the cornstarch added. i've heard that they're making their own noodles so that's a big check but still. this bowl is a 7.0 when i'm asked to rate.

One bowl costs Php40.00. Good price considering how yummy it was! No wonder B recommended the place. He has a thing for places with good food at cheap price!

Next stop for early dinner is Luca Cucina Italiana. The resto by the beach is at the end of the North Oriental Mindoro road. Literal. Yeah, you got me right. It is where the road ends.hahah

easy acoustic band as early as 5pm

Food will be served fifteen minutes after ordering so i ordered for this relaxing cup of coffee to prepare myself for a heavy dinner.
pizza! the resto's best seller
Forgive me friends for not taking a shot. i was so excited to get my first slice that i forgot about the picture! This pizza gave justice to our 3-hour drive.omnomnomnom
seafood spaghetti
Forgot the name again. Sorry again!
already consumed, sir!
B and Q after the hearty meal
There you go, you might have noticed that we went to Puerto Galera but we didn't get into beach related fun. This just goes to show that there is more to Puerto Galera than its white sand and blaring lights during night parties!

Pitak Turismo: It's more fun in Mindoro!

Sunday Golf

hihihi

Because I was half sad because my Saturday plan was ruined, I was also half happy because of my (uber) cheap find. Half plus half equates one regular (size?) me. Yay! I'm fine with that!

Sunday is my lazy day. I always look forward to waking up around eight in the morning. Hanging by the moment. Thinking if I should get up or just wait if somebody would care and call me or invite me for brekky. Aaaahhhhhhhh…. Sunday is love!

After minutes of thinking about nothing, I decided to take a bath and started watching The Firm on my phone. The power of having a smart phone!:) I was annoyed when my viewing was cut when somebody called. Errrrr It was a senior officer and he invited me to go to Puerto Galera to play golf and later dive.

this what became of the grass after so many attempts to swoosh the ball
my first shot? shot ba talaga?
I love Puerto Galera and I have shared some of our happy times here. But this time, the invitation was to play golf and I haven’t even held a golf club in my entire life and they’re expecting me to play? K! Hugutan yan.

To cut the story short , we played golf. It first I thought it was just like playing billiards with super huge table and I was surprised that I enjoyed it at first. But when the club became heavy, I could see how my fellow officers look so disgusted with my body forms when I tried my luck swinging the club like a baseball bat. Poor me. Note to self: golf is not for me.

after so many attempts, this is where my balls landed. or ponded.

Tired. Hungry. Walking some not-so-short distance is not funny. I used to think golf is nothing but a game of fools. Hit the ball, look for it, then hit it agan. But now that I’ve tried playing, I could say that golf is no joke. It’s a game of precision and not everybody can play it (count me in!).

How about you, how was your weekend?

Dear July

Dear July,

Im soo excited for you. The husband has laid out plans for you. He knows I want us to do fun things together and it's finally happening with you dear julie.:)

First off is the cousin's wedding somewhere somewhere. I love weddings! It gives me kilig moments as if the husband and I are remarrying for the nth time.haha The best part about it though is that it's another lame alibi to shop and spend:) baddmeee!

Next on the line is the fun run that we will both be joining. aha! I'm not a fan of running but definitely one of fun run. those two are waaaaaaayyyy different from each other. I hope you got my point.

Another one is a youthful date at star city. oh yeah, we'll work our cutie patooties coz it's gonna be our first time!

And of course, the last but not the least, these activities won't be fun if I were to experience it all by myself so again, as usual, vaultfiles, matic na, im soooo excited to spend time with the husband!:)

July, please hurry!

Love,
tarrah

International Women's Day

according to the news, today is international women's day. or this month is international women's month. not so sure which is which.

even ms google celebrates IWD!

I always wondered about the significance of this special day. i am not so aggressive and revolutionary about it so i decided to make a significant milestone in my bloglife related to today's celebration.

taaaddaaaaahhh!

oh well, im not surprised that you're not surprised.;p just notice how my blog has transformed.:)
i changed my template design to something more serious. although that doesn't mean my posts will be more serious next time.hahaha i decided to have this changes for the following reasons:

the blog title- from of random thoughts and ideas. that was just so natural. thinking out loud is all the same so natural but i can sense some excitement out of its simplicity.

the theme- well i thinks it's about time to get that tranquility that i have always looked for. i can compare the design to what the beach would look like at night. the darkness that surrounds the water is randomly disturbed by the innocent beauty of sparkles from the beach lights or the lamps that are used by the fishermen nearby.

oh my god. this post is so me. so malabo.

December_in_September

let's celebrate!

everybody is so excited about september. for me, september is just the start of a much more exciting celebration: Christmas! they say, "it's the most wonderful time of the year". i say, " i second the motion". it's amazing how the weather dramatically turns cold and yet, the season keeps the atmosphere warm

i remember last year 01 sep 2010, i was a firstclass cadet at PMA and i was posted as Cadet Assistant Mess Officer (CAMO). the camo oversees running the mess hall to include the distribution of food for the cadets and the officers present as well. not only that, the camo also has the choice of what music she wants to play while the whole corps is having it's mess. last year, i took the chance of welcoming christmas by playing the jolliest christmas songs i have in my lappie. i even prepared a separate playlist for that specific guard posting. i downloaded at least 20 songs before i posted. pahirapan pa ang internet nun. what i would do for christmas.hahahahha

when we were firsties, a giant christmas tree is placed in the center of yap hall

i love christmas but we don't celebrate christmas per se at home because we believe that it's christmas all year round. the part of christmas which sweeps me off my feet is the warm feeling of spending time with family and loved ones. christmas eve is celebrated with our respective families and all of us gather for the very festive new year celebration at our house. so christmas tree for us is actually a symbol for new year celebration. weird? well, that's us.

when i was a cadet, errrr, i meant, the moment i joined the military, i didn't have the luxury of going home as frequent as i would like. so as much as possible, whenever i get to go out of the academy during september or october break, i volunteer to initiate setting up our christmas tree. oh how i love this activity!

bare back or bare tree?
decor shopping. see the price tag? forget about the price tag
the tree when first set up. it gets more beautiful as christmas nears

last year, i was not able to set up the tree. i was the most junior officer in our unit so automatically christmas and new year celebs are not for me....

 but...

this year, i am out of the unit for schooling and i'll have a long break by december...

so...

how about this for an early christmas gift for myself? :) i am totally broke today but i know for sure that money can't buy happiness and that my new year will be very happy.

merry christmas everyone!

puerto galera: sweeter the second time around

Weekend started with gian’s almost ten hours of commute from zambales to calapan, oriental Mindoro then me fetching him at kurba at around 03:30am of Saturday. Rested for a while then travelled from naujan to puerto galera on a jeepney with only three out of seven bolts working on one of its wheels. Whew! Transformer!
this is what 10 hours of travel can result to
pagsasamantala in action. gian hates it whenever i take shots of him sleeping. sorry, love.:)
We checked in at sandbar hotel and tried snorkelling late in the afternoon. Gian is used to it but I found it frustrating. Im not used to breathing through the mouth.
welcome to sandbar, boquete island, puerto galera, ormin
we were only able to snorkel near  the shore so this is all that we got
ok, gian's turn

when gian finally returned the blue coral, he was amazed when he saw a crab-like thingy coming out of its shell. i don't know what it's actually called and i wasn't as interested as he is. what i enjoyed the most is how gian was sooooooo in to it. i have seen a lot of these things in the province, but the city boy is less exposed to this. he is more into reading and studying and knowing how things work.

gian: "look what i found , bu!"

hala cge, pati yan, ppikturan pa!
Dinner was served at the resort’s resto and it was almost perfect except for the palengkerang nanay. Umm umm! Ang ingay mo, nay. i bought fruits the day before so we savored and enjoy the fruit basket experience offered by Victoria, OrMin.

the food was served after 10-15 mins so we got bored

melad

making faces

i combed my hair, promise
this is the nth time gian gave me a paper flower. upgrade please!

fresh avocado from victoria, ormin
Breakfast was complimentary the following morning so I pigged out on bread and butter. I’m Not so much of a breakfast person but whenever gian’s around, we really eat a lot. A lot as in we eat food for 4-5 persons. Company really affects appetite. The whole morning was spent eating. Eating. And eating. Swimming is our favourite sports and it's a good thing that we had the resort’s pool all to ourselves. Thank u ms elvie Garcia.
I LOVE THIS SHOT. my arm looks long and slender

the bread is mine

We checked out before lunch and headed to white beach were we stayed at a friend’s transient house. The place wasn’t as cozy as sandbar’s but we transferred there so we could be closer to where gian ‘s boat to batangas docks. When the sun was low and its scorching heat is almost gone, we headed to the beach for our late lunch and super early dinner. We were so hungry that we ordered food for 3-5 persons.hahahahahha gutom. The gay waitress( may crush kay gian) was making kanchaw kc antakaw daw namin. Kaon gyud kay wla ra ba mi ginikanan sa Mindoro. We later checked out the tiangge for cheap finds. Mahina tlga aq sa tawaran.  When the funds are low and the debts are high. When we want to smile but we have to sigh. When care is pressing you down the beat, rest if you must but don’t you quit! We transferred from one tiangge to another to bargain and haggle for the best items. Nakakapagod pero it was all worth it nman. Our legs and feet were tired so we finally gave up and just sat on the beach while watching passers-by. We later decided to change to our swimming attire and played with the strong and very powerful waves of San Isidro.  It was my first time since I was a kid to play with the waves. Jumping around. Gulping sea water (ewww!). running around has never been that fun without my dear husband.

food trip

again
and again.

was busy with the tiangge and when looked for gian, i saw him busy writing this on the sand. that's "awwwwwwwwwww"
finally bought my wide.brimmed.hat. i need this for the 2o-ha tree planting project
the bubu pose. gian should show his arms so that mine will be partly hidden,:)
Then night finally came and we went back to our crib but it wasn’t really that late so  we agreed on a ice cream date night. i found out that I didn’t like the flavour of the ice cream when I already consumed half of the pint after 20 minutes, I think.hahahahahh

thanks to first sgt's wife

we went to the grocery store straight from the beach
what flavor?
magkakampi kme

i wanted drumstick lang sana but it's bitin so drumstick in a pint na lang.
Monday morning at white beach are lazy. The tourists are gone and the beaches are almost deserted. Gian opted for a massage. I didn’t because I didn’t like the idea of lying almost naked in public. But Gian liked to display his beach boddddeeeeehhhhh so ok, game.

gian's beach boddeeeeeehhhh!

manang, wag mo sakalin asawa q!

beach massage costs PhP 200. i prefer sydney massage in cainta. 2hrs for PhP299
I hate it when bubu time is almost over but we can’t do anything about it. Anyway, there will always be next time and more time nxt time. That’s three times in a sentence.

here are the other photos. check it out!
