The Foodie Couple: Q Kebab Gourmet Doner Kebab

It's my sister in-law's prom night and the husband is the designated driver. As much as we would love to just laze around doing nothing at home, we had to drive as far the end of Quezon Avenue (I think) to drop off the princess.:)

The plan was to wait up until the whole activity is done but we ended up driving back home just so we can finish at least a thing or two.

The husband is scheduled for his diamond peel session anyway so we thought it would be best  if we go to the spa, eat dinner at home, rest for a while then drive back to the venue.

But when we were in Katipunan area, the husband mentioned that there are a lot of "kainan" in the area and he offered that if something appeals to me, we can just eat out.

Ganun pala ha, madali lang yan. Wink. Wink. The foodie in me just couldn't resist the offer.

We drove around the area and indeed, there are a lot of restos you can choose from. I saw xocolat but I am looking for something that is not so sweet but something that is heavy enough for dinner. Then there were milk tea stations and others.

Lo and behold, I saw Q Kebab Gourmet Doner Kebab. At first I was kinda irritated because they didn't have a menu outside. It could have been easier di ba pero since i liked their ambiance- not too cozy and nothing fancy, we decided to eat there na lang.

I think the husband has unofficially designated me as his food "orderer" (kung may word man na ganun) because everytime we eat out, he relies on my ordering skills (kung meron man again) eh pareho lang naman kaming hindi alam kung anu maganda. 

He does that every time so I am left confused with what to get while he just walks around the resto reading every thing that can possibly be read. 

I am not complaining at this rate. Anyway, it makes me feel so wifely.:) But may pressure..hmmmm...

Oh that's just me sporting my kurtina blouse and my eye luggages.

Nice food. Nice company. I do not usually eat out because there are no good restos in Mindoro yet and I find it boring if I eat alone. We Filipinos are so into talking. We talk before we eat, while eating and after eating. 

I love it that the husband and I are going out to small dates every now and then. According to him it's our way of making up for those date night we didn't have when we were still studying. I know, he is the sweetest.:)

The Foodie Couple: Mama Chit's

Have I mentioned that the husband is the sweetest person I know? Perhaps I did mention it already. Andaming beses na ata. Well, you see, He really knows how to push my buttons and he makes me feel important and so loved.

I have mentioned in my previous posts that I have been preparing for my interview for promotion scheduled on Mar 13-15. Our plan was for me to leave Mindoro on Mar 9 so I can have the weekend to run through the 3.2km pft route and then finalize everything to include my uniforms which should have been full of tailor's chalk by then.

Errrrrrr  and I had to pick up my especially made shoes from the Gibson pagawaan at Marikina pa.

But because of some unforeseen events, I left Mindoro on March 10. The husband fetched me at cubao and we then picked up my shoes.

Thanks to Kuya Ver of Gibson's Marikina for making my pumps. To tell you, I had to ask Kuya Ver to make a smaller size of this pair of shoes kasi my feet are so small!

I was happy with the result. According to Kuya Ver, they seldom make this pumps because most of their clients are from the PNP and they wear a different design of pumps. Good thing that he agreed to make a size 6 1 /2 size of this design for me.

On our way home, I mentioned to the husband that when I was researching how to get to Gibson's Marikina, I bumped on some foodie sites featuring nice kainan's in Marikina. 

He agreed (thanks dear) that we eat out na lang. Google map is a great help but it doesn't give you everything especially if you are not familiar with the place. We almost got lost.

After rechecking our maps and referred to ever reliable map-agtatanungan bystanders, we finally found Mama Chit's. 

We didn't order immediately because we got caught up with the ambiance.

It's a perfect place for vintage lovers. You can find a lot of memorabilia from the 70's to the 90's. The owner must have been so into these era.

I am a pasta person but this one is different. It's very yummy and you can really taste the mixture of oils and herbs. 

I am very happy with our first eat out experience. Mall food are getting boring and I think they're expensive too! I think we will now prefer to be adventurous foodies. Adventure talaga kasi we do not know how to reach our destination.haha 

For now, I have a short list of resto I want to visit. I'm so excited. Thank you, husband for spoiling me.:)

Kindness of a Raven

The title of this post doesn't really have a connection to the topic. I was thinking of "the kindness of senior officers" but then i am reminded of the now defunct TV series One Tree Hill which tells of the story of teenagers who started as enemies then later became the best of friends. One of the main characters, Lucas Scott, wrote a novel entitled "the unkindness of ravens". That's my only explanation and i know it doesn't explain anything.

Anyway, being the most junior officer in our camp means two things. Work and Perks. 

As expected the most junior gets most of the workload. Good thing though that I'm a girl so the boss won't send me to war. Yes, there's a war, soldier! Everything is referred to me which makes me wonder if they see superwoman in me.

I am the front liner in the positive sense of the title. I deal with the media, the VIP and everyone else who needs something from our organization. Doing such is very tiring. Travel upsets me and the stress of meeting and smiling to people I do not actually know drives me nuts!

But, on the perks side is a whole different story. Being the most junior and the youngest in the group is full of simple joys. Food which is my favorite of all favorites is my consolation. whenever the the senior officers would go out for a break, they always come back with a "pasalubong" for me hence my continuous weight gain. errrr

So you see, I am a very shallow person. I get so excited easily and I find happiness in the simplest things. And this is just one of the many reasons why I love my job.:)

Boodling Boys and Girl

This post is a follow up to my previous post. Last week was a blast when I tried my luck with golf (found out later that it's not for me). The rest of the story, you can read in sunday golf but the more enjoyable part of our trip is of course the boodling (eating) part! wohoooooooo!

We left the camp around eleven noon. No time for rally lunch so we opted to have lunch along the way. Q said we can eat at the clubhouse but B said that food there is sobrang expensive so our first stop is at a random lomihan. From clubhouse to lomihan. K!

Im trying to eat healthy lately so this bowl didn't appeal much to me. Tasty, yes but not healthy. It's thick but maybe because of the cornstarch added. i've heard that they're making their own noodles so that's a big check but still. this bowl is a 7.0 when i'm asked to rate.

One bowl costs Php40.00. Good price considering how yummy it was! No wonder B recommended the place. He has a thing for places with good food at cheap price!

Next stop for early dinner is Luca Cucina Italiana. The resto by the beach is at the end of the North Oriental Mindoro road. Literal. Yeah, you got me right. It is where the road ends.hahah

There you go, you might have noticed that we went to Puerto Galera but we didn't get into beach related fun. This just goes to show that there is more to Puerto Galera than its white sand and blaring lights during night parties!

Tuesday Liqueur Night: Hopia Like it!

For six years, gian and i finally i got to celebrate our first hearts' day together. Well, at least the evening. We didn't plan of having a romantic dinner somewhere (gian is not a fan) so we just celebrated the day spending quality time together. 

Gifts? Again, Gian is not a fan. I am a big fan though but I think mindoro has really sucked out the creative juices in my head so I opted for something  I know Gian would surely like and appreciate. And guess what that safe choice is. Food. Food is one of the many things that really bond us together and I know I can never go wrong with it so that day, I decided to find my way to Ongpin Street to buy his favorite hopia.:)

Gian is not a fan of dates nor gifts but definitely a SUPER BIG FAN (all caps, ikr?) of hopia. Any hopia will do even those which cost super cheap. On my part, I have heard good reviews of Eng Bee Tin hopia so I bought a few for my valentine.

What's so funny about it is that Gian didn't immediately try each flavor. He took each one slowly as if he is savoring each single bite. Kung ako yun, wagam na kagad,hahahahah

When the husband went to Malaysia last December, he bought a box of Anthon Berg liqueur chocolate. At first, I hesitated to indulge since I had a bad experience with liqueur filled chocolates last christmas. When i first had one, it felt like my head would explode and i was dizzy evening to dusk.

But this one's different. It's so chocolaty (chocolate naman talaga,toink). What I meant is that the liqueur is there but it didn't took over the chocolaty taste.

at the end of the day, hearts' day is just any other day. it's up to the people how they want it to be. for me, hearts' day 2012 was a blast simply because i celebrated love day with my beloved.
